Keto Meatballs in Creamy Tomato Sauce

These low carb and keto meatballs were so nice that I had to make a second batch. They were cheesy, creamy and tender. Most of traditional meatballs recipes call for breadcrumbs and we want to avoid bread at all costs. I used an egg as a binding agent in this recipe, but you can also use almond flour in the place of breadcrumbs. These were even good on their own without any side dish. I got over 20 medium sized  meatballs out of this recipe and it was enough to feed my family of five.

Ingredients:
  • 700 minced beef
  • 200 g pork sausage meat
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp, Italian Seasoning
  • 1 tsp mustard (any mustard works in this recipe)
  • 150 g passata, canned tomatoes or low carb tomato sauce
  • 100 ml heavy cream
  • 150 g grated cheddar
  • 3 tbs olive oil for frying
  • salt and pepper to taste
Instructions for keto meatballs:
  1. Preheat oven to 200 C
  2. In the big bowl mix together beef, sausage meat, egg, mustard, garlic powder, salt and pepper.
  3. Form meatballs and leave aside
  4. In the large skillet over medium heat brown meatballs
  5. Place into prepared baking dish.
  6. In the mixing bowl combine tomatoes, cream, italian seasoning, salt and pepper
  7. Pour sauce over meatballs
  8. Sprinkle with cheese
  9. Cook in the oven for about 20-25 minutes
